Sam Sherry has appeared with jazz notables including Jimmy Heath, Alex Foster, Jim Pugh (Return to Forever), David Samuels (Spiro Gyra), Bob Moses (Gary Burton), Mark Templeton (Freddy Hubbard) and Dale Bruning. His folk/traditional music credits include stints with Last Fair Deal, Welling & Wallach, Richard Starkey, and The Morgans. He studied jazz with Michael Moore, Jackie Byard and George Russell, and classical music with Leland Tolo and Gary Karr. Known in Maine for his performances with the Orion Ensemble, Randy Bean, Tracey MacLean and Leila Percy, Sam’s current musical efforts focus on URSA MAJOR, a modern-jazz band playing Sam Sherry’s compositions
